Home Education Pack - January (Family)
January can be a tricky month for home educating families.
After the disruption and intensity of Christmas, many children need time to settle, reconnect and feel safe again. Routines may feel unsettled, emotions can be close to the surface, and anything that looks like formal learning can feel harder than usual. For young and neurodivergent children, this isn’t a problem to fix, it’s a normal part of recovery.
That’s why this month’s theme is Family.
Rather than pushing children forward or trying to “catch up”, this pack focuses on relationships, belonging and shared experiences. Learning is woven into everyday family life, through play, stories, conversation, food and familiar routines.
Family is explored in a broad, inclusive way. Siblings, carers, pets, friends and chosen family all have a place here. Activities are designed to be done together where possible, supporting connection first and learning alongside it.
Created with neurodivergent and SEND children in mind, this pack is low demand, flexible and trauma informed. Activities are offered as ideas, not instructions. You can dip in, adapt freely, or leave things out entirely. This is a resource for real January days, not ideal ones.
